On the set of 'The Ghastly Love of Johnny X,' a 35mm B&W feature... filmed in part on the soundstages at Occidental studios. Shown here is the constructed set for 'Damnations Hole,' scene of the story's final climax where 'Sluggo' and 'Johnny X' have their battle for supremacy. The largest set of the film's production design requirements, this 40' x 60' set was constructed off-site and brought into place within a 12 hour turn-around period. Utilizing aircraft molded aluminum with fused, painted canvas and draped over skeletal structures set atop steel deck platforms, standard conventional techniques were replaced with innovative procedures in order to accelerate a one day turn-around requirement.
